However, my mission is to move beyond my therapy room to help more women to thrive in their bodies, whatever size they may be. This is because body dissatisfaction and body shame is alarmingly pervasive at large, particularly for women in bigger bodies. So much so, that being demeaning towards bigger bodies and pursuing any opportunity to intentionally shrink body size (even if its not healthy or safe to do so) is just an accepted and normalised part of our collective cultural psyche.
Sadly, the hyper-focus on thin body idealisationonly serves to heighten body shame for anyone who isn’t able to live by unrealistic body standards, and especially challenging for those who are already struggling with negative self perceptions.
