The Founder- Dr Salena Bhanji

Founding The Wise Body Hub has been a long held dream of mine. As an experienced psychologist, I deliver therapy for a wide range of mental health issues, but one of my main passions over the past decade has been working with disordered eating and body image issues.

In doing this work, there is never a shortage of goose-pimply, lightbulb moments when I get to witness my clients shed self-limiting beliefs and go after opportunities that they once felt were out of reach for them.

These outcomes don’t come without effort or resistance, but when I hear stories from those who ditch food rules to embrace intuitive eating, join a fitness class and enjoy movement without shame, buy the desired outfit in a bigger size, or abandon swimwear self-consciousness to enjoy family time at the beach, it’s a wonderful thing to celebrate.

It’s also empowering to empower other women; particularly those who have been affected by the adverse impacts of discrimination, stigma or trauma. These experiences disconnect women from their bodies and make it feel unsafe to be seen or heard.

So I wish to put my own expertise and lived experience out there in the world to support any woman who wishes to thrive in our body-obsessed world by shining a light on the most attractive attribute we all have- our wise, weird and authentic selves.

Outside of the clinic..

I’m someone who finds peace in the quiet of nature, whether it’s wandering through leafy bush walks in local Sydney suburbs, beach- combing along the beautiful NSW coastlines or venturing up into the breathtaking Blue Mountains.

But I also love making the most of everything that Sydney has to offer including trying out new restaurants, attending vibrant multicultural events, soaking in the buzz of live music and theatre or visiting as many art and museum exhibitions as possible.

And for some well-deserved downtime, you’ll find me curled up with a Harlan Coben crime thriller, binge-watching “A Place in the Sun” or wanderlusting elaborate holiday itineraries (at the top of my list is a road trip around Scotland and Ireland to visit all the old castles).

Would you love to be able to live peacefully in your body?
